A good tournament is remembered for years — and it is organisation, not luck, that makes it good. Whether it is eight futsal teams on one Saturday or a season-long league, the checklist is the same.
The organiser's checklist
- Pick the format first. Knockout is fast and dramatic; groups + finals guarantees every team several games. Decide before you invite anyone — the format sets the venue hours and the budget.
- Book the venue early. Reserve the full block, including warm-up time and a buffer for overruns. A tournament that runs on time is a tournament teams come back to.
- Charge a fair entry fee. Entry fees should cover the venue, the referees and the prizes — write the budget down and share it with captains. Transparency is what separates a tournament from an argument.
- Referees and rules in writing. Named referees, agreed rules, and a tie-break procedure published before the first whistle.
- Broadcast it. A phone on a tripod and a free YouTube or Facebook Live stream turns 50 spectators into 5,000. Post the link on your event page so families and fans can watch live.
